Abstract
Impressionism emerged in the late 19th century as a radical departure from traditional academic art, emphasizing light, color, and everyday subjects through innovative brushwork and composition. This study explores the enduring influence of Impressionism on subsequent modern artistic movements, including Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, Expressionism, and Abstract art. Utilizing a qualitative analysis of art historical texts, visual artworks, and critical reviews, the research examines how Impressionist techniques and philosophies reshaped artistic practices and challenged established norms. Findings reveal that Impressionism’s focus on subjective perception and experimentation with color and form laid the groundwork for the evolution of diverse modern styles, encouraging artists to explore emotional expression and abstraction. The study concludes that Impressionism’s legacy is pivotal in understanding the trajectory of modern art, highlighting its role in fostering artistic innovation and redefining the boundaries of visual representation. This research underscores the movement’s significance as a catalyst for artistic freedom and its lasting impact on contemporary creative expression.
